Humanae Vitae, St Joseph, and God's Plan of Love

July 29th marks the anniversary of the Vatican release of Pope Paul VI's encyclical, Humanae Vitae - Of Human Life - signed by Pope Paul VI on July 25th, 1968.

"Joseph, Husband", a chapter in Father's book Seven Biblical Portraits, tells of a way of life Humanae Vitae exhorts us to imitate.

Father's teaching will draw you into the beauty, intimacy, purity, and depth of the design of God's love lived out between Joseph and Mary.

Whether you are called to married life or chaste life, this teaching serves as a powerful resource for living in union with God's plan of love.

An excerpt from "Joseph, Husband":

"Joseph is a saint, strong and grounded in the love of God. He has a strong masculine presence in the Gospel story that makes him a model for today's world and an example of married love that is needed today in theory and in practice. His chastity did not make him an emotionless bachelor incapable of intimacy or love. Rather his chastity released deep reserves of love from his heart that were purified by his devotion and self-discipline and then given to Mary without limit.

There is a necessity today to find greater depth and meaning in matters of love and marriage, sexuality and intimacy, relationship and fidelity. Joseph can be a worthwhile model and guide in the search. We reverence him, honor him, and learn from him."

Father is offering "Joseph, Husband", as an Audio Download(.mp3) at a 15% discount. (all the chapters in Father's book, Seven Biblical Portraits, are now available as Audio Downloads!)

Andy DeMasi, friend and integral part of the ministry, assists Father lending his talent to narrate the chapter Joseph, Husband.

A Day Of Celebration For Father and His Community...

The Anniversary of the Canonization of St Eugene de Mazenod, Founder of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate!

On December 3, 1995, the first Sunday
of Advent, John Paul II proclaimed Eugene de Mazenod a saint. From the homily of the Pope:

Picture
“Blessed Eugene de Mazenod, whom the Church proclaims a saint today, was a man of Advent, a man of the Coming. He not only looked forward to that Coming, but as Bishop and Founder of the Congregation of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate he dedicated his whole life to preparing for it. He was one of those apostles who prepared the modern age, our age [...].

Eugene de Mazenod was aware that the mandate of every bishop and every local Church is in itself missionary, and he made sure that even the ancient Church of Marseilles, whose beginnings date back to the sub-apostolic period, could fulfill in an exemplary manner its missionary vocation, under the leadership of its pastor. This was St. Eugene’s commitment, regarding the second coming of Christ, that all await with great hope. [...]

Today the Church gives thanks to God for St. Eugene de Mazenod, an apostle of his time, who, putting on the Lord Jesus Christ, spent his life in service to the Gospel of God. We give thanks to God for the great transformation accomplished through the work of this bishop. His influence is not limited to the time when he lived, but also continues in our time. In fact, the good accomplished by the Holy Spirit does not perish, but endures in every “now” of history."

St. Eugene de Mazenod, Pray for us!

JESUS, FORGIVENESS and HEALING
Picture
Forgiveness - Experiencing God's Mercy, an acclaimed work of Father's in which he not only provides valuable insight on the necessity of forgiveness for healing and spiritual growth, but he also reflects on the fact that forgiveness is the very heart and soul of the Gospel message itself.

"God's forgiveness is simply given as a gift without measure. What is received as a gift is to be given as a gift (Mt 10,8). Love and do not count the cost."
 ~ Fr Richard McAlear, OMI

Healing, another acclaimed work of Father's in which he tells us-
"We see Jesus as the incarnation of the Father's love. He is the Savior. The basis for all the healing and saving work of Jesus is the Incarnation itself. Love is revealed when God sends His Son into the world to be its Savior... He brings healing and hope, touching humanity with the love of God. "The Spirit of God has been given to me. He has sent me to bring Good News to the poor, to heal the brokenhearted and to free the oppressed" (Is 61, 1-3). Jesus will spend His time on earth fulfilling that prophetic word. Jesus healed. He is Healer. He forgives sins... He heals and cures the sick. Jesus is Love Incarnate."

Forgiveness - Experiencing God's Mercy and Healing by Fr Richard McAlear offer much to celebrate Jesus and the love He came to bring.

"Healing belongs to Jesus and Jesus belongs to healing. We learn about Jesus from considering His healing work, His incarnation and work of redemption. We learn about the love of God, both as manifested in the healings Jesus accomplished and as the reason for His presence on earth."
~ Fr Richard McAlear, OMI

Thank you to one and all who reached out as I celebrated my 80th birthday.
I feel deeply blessed and grateful. Wonderful to think I have completed eight
decades of life. But I have miles to go before I sleep.

(But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.

“Jesus is the friend of sinners.”
~ Fr Richard McAlear, OMI

As Jesus passed by, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, "Follow me." And he got up and followed him. While he was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat with Jesus and his disciples. The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?" He heard this and said, “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. Go and learn the meaning of the words, I desire mercy, not sacrifice. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners."  ~ MT 9:9-13

Jesus came with his disciples into the house. Again the crowd gathered, making it impossible for them even to eat. When his relatives heard of this they set out to seize him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”  - Mk 3:20-21

Feel like everything is crazy? Just be crazy for Jesus!
Father is! Father is CRAZY for Jesus!
Are YOU crazy?

"I'm plum crazy for Jesus because Jesus is crazy for me... crazy enough to die for me. That's crazy!"  - Fr Richard McAlear, OMI

August is the month of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and a time of special celebrations...

The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is August 15th when we celebrate Mary assumed body and soul into Heaven. The Memorial of The Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary is August 22nd when we celebrate Mary crowned Queen of Heaven.

It is a special time to be close with Mary.

Mary - Mother & Disciple of Jesus, a teaching by Fr. Richard McAlear, gives us a very special and touching glimpse into the life of Mary and all that she endured.

In his teaching, Father speaks to us of Mary’s trust and surrender; her continual assurance that the Lord is with us. Father's teaching brings us closer to the healing and comfort of Mary’s motherly love... she walks the journey of faith with us, especially during this troubling time... she understands... she knows what we are going through and we can go to her with all that is on our heart and mind.
